Down the Toilet?

Via Memeorandum I see Lincoln's defeat of the labor backed Halter is big news, specifically the Ben Smith Politico piece entitled, "White House official: 'Organized labor just flushed $10 million down the toilet'"

Wonder what the White House Political Director, and former SEIU 1199 Political Director, Patrick Gaspard thinks of that sentiment?

It's obviously inflammatory language but the sad thing is the assessment might be correct. With limited funds after blowing through their election budgets in 2008 every dime spent on a losing race is going to be seriously questioned.

I'm normally one who says that a fight is sometimes worth having, even if you lose. But at $10 million?

It is particularly worrisome for the Democratic party as an institution do disregard labor, because labor, unlike many of the other core constituencies of the Democratic party, could realistically defect to the GOP and union-members have done so in the past (Reagan Democrats).
