Electoral strategizing for Scott McInnis

Why not (quietly) push some libertarian or Christian-fascist into the primary race to split the nuts who are supporting Don Maes? Maes only has strength becuase he's a symbol upon which every disaffected GOP base member can project their ideals. Give a portion of the base some other Idol to worship and watch Maes go from potential spoiler to just another nut in the bowl.
