What does McCain pulling out mean for Bob Schaffer? If McCain ever planned on launching a ground game here Schaffer's campaign would have benefited greatly from the boots on the ground. So Schaffer loses out on the added organization and field operation that a full throated McCain campaign would bring.
The other important thing to remember is the conventional wisdom that a national Democratic candidate will not be able to match the support of a Colorado Democratic candidate. If you assume that Barack Obama is running a few points behind Mark Udall then the fact that McCain is abandoning ship is a sign of impending disaster for Bob Schaffer.
I realize that Schaffer partisans are trying to convince themselves that the situation is not that dire but I don't see how you can read this news and not conclude that Schaffer is facing a double-digit blowout on November 4th.
