Bill Owens endorses Taft-Hartley Act

From yesterday's Denver Post

Former Colorado Gov. Bill Owens has thrown his support behind the contentious right-to-work ballot initiative.

"I have always been in favor of right to work, and I strongly support the measure," Owens, a Republican, said in a statement released by the campaign today. "How can you tell somebody they have to be in a union in order to work and earn an honest living? It's a freedom issue, and it's an American issue."

Thanks for that insight Bill. You just endorsed the Taft-Hartley Act which was passed by Congress (over-riding a veto by President Truman) in 1947.

Now of course Bill Owens isn't a stupid man. He knows full well that his statement in support of the odious Amdendment 47 is fundamentally dishonest. He just thinks the voters are stupid and won't notice his dishonesty until it's too late.

It says a lot about Pete Coors, Jonathon Coors, Kelley Harp and the rest of the gang attempting to foist this upon Colorado's voters that they have to rely on fundamentally dishonest sloganeering and cynically play upon the fears of low-information voters. If they really believed that Amendment 47 was best for Colorado (and not just a way to destroy labor in the state and fundamentally weaken the position of all workers in Colorado) they would engage in an honest debate about their measure, instead they choose to dissemble and distort.
