Boulder and Bluegrass, a brief review

Wednesday's Jeff Austin & Friends show in Boulder was phenomenal. The band sounded pretty tight (always a concern for these "all-star" type gigs) and seemed to be really enjoying themselves. In the first set the highlight for me was "Pretty Polly" with Billy Nershi leading the charge. In the 2nd set we were treated to numerous guests including Yonder Mountain's Dave Johnston on banjo. The set closing "Raleigh & Spencer" was a raucous rendition with multiple guests sharing in the fun. The "Steam Powered Airplane" encore was a perfect cap to the evening.

To me bassist Bryn Davies was the MVP of the evening, she was on point from the "Jesse James" opener and didn't miss a note the rest of the night.
