Tide turning

U.S. Senator Bob Casey Jr has endorsed Barack Obama, he's the first major Pennsylvania leader to endorse Obama. Casey Jr. is the son of former Pennsylvania Governor Bob Casey. His family has deep roots in the state and is widely respected. Casey Jr. crushed incumbent Senator Rick Santorum last year, thanks in no small part to his family name. Casey Jr. is also a moderate, he's pro-life and would generally be assumed to align with the establishment candidate - Clinton.

In other news Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont (an Obama supporter) has called for Clinton to drop out of the race,
"There is no way that Senator Clinton is going to win enough delegates to get the nomination. She ought to withdraw and she ought to be backing Senator Obama. Now, obviously that's a decision that only she can make frankly I feel that she would have a tremendous career in the Senate."

Leahy's very explicit call for her to withdraw may move the conversation to a place where other super-delegates feel free to come out and express publicly this same sentiment. We shall see.
