The state faces up to a $1.1 billion budget shortfall in the 2011-12 fiscal year.
Meanwhile, because Republicans have retaken the state House, there is now a 3-3 partisan split on the panel. GOP lawmakers have vowed to restore more than $100 million in tax breaks and incentives that the legislature, fully controlled by Democrats in the 2010 session, eliminated or suspended.
You got that? The state GOP's plan for balancing the budget is to cut revenue by another $100 million. In some way I'm almost glad that an incompetent like McNulty now has to put his name on moronic ideas like this. Without the Senate and the the governor's office the actual harm that can be done is limited but the public is now on notice that Colorado Republican's have absolutely zero ideas for fixing state government other than shoveling money to their friends in the business community.
