I hate to turn this into an all D.C. Mayoral primary blog but jesusfuckingchrist are there a lot of out of touch privileged white people writing political blogs in D.C.
Ezra has approvingly linked to a 1,200 word (I'm guessing) post by Megan McArdle at The Atlantic which never once mentions the unemployment rate in the city. Instead she couches it all in opposition to gentrification and it is all written in a pity-the-poor people Antoinette -esque tone.
I'm guessing gentrification wouldn't be such a hot button issue if more than 1/3rd of all African-Americans in the city weren't unemployed.
