Even after public displays of confidence from Colorado's most prominent education figures, the state will not receive funding from the federal Race to the Top education reform program.
On Tuesday, the Department of Education confirmed that $3.4 billion in federal funding will be divided between Washington, D.C., Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Carolina, New York, Ohio and Rhode Island for their efforts to reform their education systems.
Glad we went through all of that bullshit last session.

Thanks to Peter Groff, Sen. Johnston has the luxury of not having to run until 2012. It's rare that a politician is basically allowed to do and say whatever they want, constituencies be damned, with no fear of consequence.
If he, or the other proponents of SB-191, claim now that these funds were not the source of vast pressure to vote for the bill, then they are liars.
