So what did you do this weekend?

We flew home on Friday for my fiancee's father's 80th birthday celebration (we're both from St. Louis originally). At some point during the celebration it dawned on us that with all of her family in together for the first time in 10 years (6 brothers and sisters living in 5 different states) we should just go ahead and get married. We made that decision at about 3:30pm on Friday, hauled it down to the Recorder of Deeds office and got our Marriage License by 4:30. At 5:30 I had found an officiant to come to her dad's house the next morning. That night I ran to the mall to grab a button-up shirt, tie and a wedding ring while the families dispersed to get a wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses, flowers, cake, champagne and other essentials. By 11:45am on Saturday we were husband and wife.

The whole thing was pretty spectacular. Completely impromptu and it went off without a hitch.

Our music came from what was on my iPhone, we walked out to this version of the Stones' "Loving Cup" from a concert we were at together this last Halloween.

Congratulations!

A certain degree of impulsivity is warranted in matters of the heart in any case. Surely this will be more romantic and memorable than a more premediated event.
