I'm not getting too excited about the public option yet, like I said last night nothing has passed yet. I also don't know how I feel about so much credit being explicitly heaped on "progressives" for our part in pushing the Senate towards this. Politicians generally don't make public statements just for the sake of making such statements, there is usually a strategy motivating them. Democratic politicians in particular don't make public pronouncements about how the liberal base has arm twisted them into pursing a specific policy.
Maybe it's the dawning of a new era in Democratic politics... or maybe we're getting setup.
