It doesn't matter if it's true

Of course Pols is correct in noting that the latest non-sense out of Josh Penry's mouth regarding the 6% growth cap in state government doesn't stand up to the slightest bit of intellectual scrutiny. That's just it though, it doesn't matter if what Penry is saying is true. He's telling the base what it wants to hear, throwing out the red-meat catch phrases and dog-whistling about "Liberal" coastal states who are facing budget crisis.

No one who takes Penry at face value on this will ever be persuaded by facts or rational debate. Penry can say whatever he wants so long as he attacks government spending and invokes California and/or New York.

He's giving the people what they want to hear, truth is irrelevant to much of the GOP base.
