Unemployment in Colorado

The Wall Street Journal provides some detail today on unemployment levels in metro areas nationwide. Here's the data for Colorado:

  • Boulder - currently, 6.3% up 2.3% in the last year
  • Colorado Springs - currently, 8.5% up 3
  • Denver/Aurora - currently, 8.2% up 3.4
  • Ft. Collins/Loveland - currently, 6.8% up 2.5
  • Grand Junction - currently, 8.2% up 4.3
  • Greeley - currently, 8.7% up 3.5
  • Pueblo - currently 9.1%, up 3.1

We're right around the national average, though Boulder is a little lower and Pueblo a little higher. Things could be a lot worse I suppose but if you know anyone looking for work you know that times certainly feel a lot more desperate than the numbers suggest.
