No one could have predicted

Suprise. Surprise. Surprise. The GOP continues it's downward spiral. It is essentially a party of far-right Christian religious nuts and anti-tax Jihadists who are fundamnetally unserious about actually governing. Everything is politcal and their word is not to be trusted, ever. Those of us paying attention have known this for some time but maybe now the rest of the country will catch on.

The Democrats should put together a progressive package that is palatable to our entire caucus and tell Hank and George they can take it or leave it. Bush couldn't get his caucus on board so the time for negotiations are  over.

There were more than 90 votes in the Democratic caucus against the package. While more Republicans opposed it than Democrats, this did not have widespread support in the caucus.

It definitely did not and I think everyone expected that, that's why you saw Democrats promise 110 votes and negotiate to get an equal amount from the GOP. Everyone was looking for cover.

One caucus delivered 60% of their votes, another caucus turned out 66% against.
