GOP challengers to DeGette

Apparently there are two Republican's vying to replace Congresswoman Dianna DeGette in Colorado's 1st Congressional District. One of the men lists a homeless shelter as his home address. The other is George Lilly and the Denver Post reports,

Lilly said he is running on a number of issues, but the economy is the most important.

And then, just for a chuckle the Post follows up with Lilly's platform,

He said that if he's elected, he wants to work to restore the gold standard.

You hear that Denver? We've got our very own gold-standard candidate! If you wake up in the morning and find yourself longing for the volatile economy of 18th century America, George Lilly is your man. If you think that the best way to save the economy is to handcuff policy makers and tie our economy to a scarce resource then George Lilly is your man.

Is there anything cuter in American politics than an earnest gold-standard advocate?
