Two years from now we will see what is left in St Louis. That is about how long it
will take for this thing to shake out. The charities and other things
they did in St Louis will get hurt first and quickly.
That's what is missing from all of the national commentary, any sense for just how critical AB was to the community. I guess it's not cool to be sentimental about a big brewery that makes average beer but this buyout is going to hurt the City of St. Louis in ways that most clearly do not realize. This is why the buyout matters so much. The passion does not come from xenophobia or from ignorant blue collar workers who just don't understand global economics. It's because many see the future health of the City of St. Louis as completely intertwined with Anheuser-Busch and that view point isn't misguided in the slightest.
