It's funny to see conservatives lash out with their own political correctness.
I fail to see what Wesley Clark said that was so controversial. He responded to a question from Bob Schieffer and what Clark said was accurate and true and not in any way a gratuitous shot at McCain's record.
I particularly like this comment from Time magazine's Joe Klein it's a nice window into the thought process of our center-right media and their absurd PC standards,
I think McCain's Vietnam war experience gives him important perspective on the horrors of war and should never, ever be discounted...
Seriously? The guy has been a full-throated supporter of the President's disastrous Iraq War policies but never mind that - he was in a war and so his "experience" must be "respected." This is utter nonsense. If McCain wants to cite his experience it's worth noting just what that experience actually consists of (ie. not much). Experience is wonderful but without judgment it means nothing. McCain has demonstrated that he lacks sound judgment despite all of his supposed "experience."
As for the horrors of war John McCain, victim of torture, has provided political cover for the war crimes of this administration. So what did he really learn from his experience? Certainly he didn't learn a respect for the rule of law, for international customs, for the Geneva Conventions, for the rights of prisoners or for human rights in general.
No one has Swift-boated John McCain. There's no major ad campaign, there was no maliciousness in Clark's comments and his comments are indisputably true. There is no comparison between this honest and measured critique and the out right slanders of the Swift-boat campaign.
