We can't stop here, this is bat country

A weekend of Gonzo blogging awaits...

I'm getting ready to head out for a long weekend road trip to Durango, Colorado. We're headed down to catch the indoor festival known as the Bluegrass Meltdown. Sort of an ironic name as there isn't anything melting down today, we're going to be driving through a snow storm the entire way.

Nevertheless the festival should be great fun. We're staying at the beautiful and historic Strater Hotel, where many of the acts will be performing. The headliner, and the reason for my venturing all the way down to the 4 Corners, is the up and coming Nashville band - The Infamous Stringdsuters. We'll get 4 sets from the 'Dusters between Saturday and Sunday and plenty of great picking in between.

Durango is an old railroad town, founded in 1880 by the Denver and Rio Grande railroads as the hub of their system. Durango had the smelters, SIlverton and the surrounding mountains held the ore.

If we make it through the snow storm the rumor is that there is pig roast awaiting us...
