I came across this take down of an old (2004) piece from David Sirota by a young Matt Yglesias. Hilariously in his error filled screed Sirota applauds the newly elected Ken Salazar for "stand[ing] up credibly for progressive values."
Anyone who has followed Ken Salazar's career knows that he is far from a progressive. Indeed, less than 3 years after his original piece Sirota would launch a vicious attack on Salazar where he described the Senator and his positions as "spineless" and "unprincipled."
Sirota is of course, in his mind, principled to the extreme. It's easy to be puritanical when you're unelected and unaccountable. As Ezra Klein once said, "And the world is not as clear, obvious, and immediate as David Sirota would like it to be. He should stop pretending otherwise."
