Post's Harsanyi, partisan and selective outrage

This is really inexplicable. In this morning's Denver Post right-wing glibertarian columnist David Harsanyi pens a column calling for an end to Catholic bashing - without a single mention of Tom Tancredo's direct attack on the Pope yesterday.

Harsanyi's own paper has prominently featured Tancredo's comments in the news section. They even have video of the Congressman's rant on their home page.

Harsanyi's entire column is focused on week old comments from cable television host Bill Maher. After attacking Maher Harsanyi continues with an evidence free column full of overly generalized strawmen before moving on to defend the Catholic church.

To anyone who regularly reads David Harsanyi it's obvious the man is an intellectual light-weight who never lets reality interfere with his political axe grinding. He's a partisan through and through and will ignore the two by four in his own political eye while pointing out the speck in his opponents. What Maher said was wrong and offensive but Bill Maher is a minor player in the political world. He holds no elected office, he has no constituency, he has no ties to Colorado. Maher's comments were uttered last Friday. Apparently they were so offensive that Harsanyi didn't think to even comment for a week. Go figure. Tom Tancredo is a high profile elected official from suburban Denver who personally attacked the Pope yesterday and Harsanyi acts as though it never happened.
