DeGette single-handedly kept the anti-choice Stupak language out of the health care bill; fought for the exchange provision when the bill passed the Energy & Commerce Committee (with the exchange language intact); was one of the leaders in passing the food safety bill through the House; forged the compromise that led to passage of the consumer product safety bill in the 110th Congress; is one of the strongest proponents of wilderness in the House; leads the pro-choice caucus; and is widely recognized as a Democratic superstar.
